The collection is not only to experiment different potentials of stone and metal, which have shared history of human being’s making things, but also to find timeless design approach out by making contrast between pureness of metal and stone. The project is to reinterpret the material as a low table, by using shape of circle and square. The point is to have a strong contrast between metal and stone. I decided to use a geometrical structure like crossing a heavy material over the bent stainless steel. And then it’s able to function a hundred percent as a stool and a table with a good contrast between a light material and heavy one. It can be recognized easily by people because of using the basic shapes like circle and square. That is intentional aim to make a definite function through a simple shape. And the design shows the possibility of the materiality with various stones. It gives people inspiration by refection of pattern and color of the stones on face of metal. Finally, Half Half becomes the functional sculpture to stimulate people’s curiosity and imagination.

Half Half 컬렉션은 인간의 사물제작 역사와 함께해온 재질 돌과 금속의 다른 가능성을 실험하며, 두 재질의 가장 순수한 대비를 통해 시대적 흐름에서 벗어난 디자인 방향을 찾는 것을 목표이다. 인간이 자연의 형상에서 완벽히 벗어날 수 있는 정원과 사각형의 조합을 통해 사람이 앉거나 무언가를 올려둘 수 있는 사물로 재 해석 하였다. 금속의 파여진 부분에 대리석 파트가 정확히 박혀 가구로서 백 퍼센트 기능을 수행한다. 가벼운 금속의 재질감과 무거움을 나타내는 대리석의 상징성이 강한 대비를 만들어 낸다. Half Half는 금속 원형의 형태를 고정하기 위해 같은 원형의 대리석을 사용하였다. 이는 단순한 형태를 통해 명확한 기능 만들어 내기 위한 디자이너의 계획적 의도이다. 잘 정돈된 곡선의 스테인리스 스틸 표면 위에 대리석의 강렬한 패턴과 컬러가 반사되어 금속에 새로운 표면감을 생성해 낸다. Half Half를 바라보는 사용자에게 대리석과 금속이 만나는 구조를 모호하게 드러내므로 서 사람의 호기심과 상상력을 자극시키는 기능적 조각품으로 다가갈 것이다.
