HalfHalf circle long, as a series of HalfHalf collection. The design is not only to experiment different potentials of stone and metal, by making contrast between pureness of metal and stone, but also to find out diverse way of industrial methods. The project is to reinterpret the material as a bench or a sculpture, by using minimal shapes of circle and square. The main point is to have a strong contrast between metal and stone. I decided to use a geometrical structure like crossing a heavy material over the bent stainless steel. And then it’s able to function a hundred percent as a mirror with a good contrast between a light material and heavy one. It is for people to savor slowly function or message hidden in shapes of the objects metaphorically for a long time like a poem. You can feel tension and liveliness from that asymmetric shape becomes stable.

HalfHalf circle long은 단단한 소재이지만 따뜻한 인상을 주는 컬러 콘크리트와 차가운 이미지인 금속의 가능성에 대한 실험이다. 이는 현재 산업에서 큰 역할을 수행하고 있는 기계에 대한 여러 활용 방법과 원론적인 가치를 찾고자 하는 고민에서 출발한 것이다. 기계와 수작업의 결합은 효율적인 시스템 아래 생산되는 사물에서는 느끼기 어려운 미감을 담아낸다. HalfHalf circle long은 기존 HalfHalf 가구시리즈에서 표현의 확장선으로 콘크리트와 금속 두 재질의 대비를 극대화했고 자연의 기하학과 대비되는 인공적인 도형들인 원, 사각형을 조합해 앉을 수 있는 사물로 제작했다.  비대칭적인 형상이 안정을 이루는 모습은 재미있는 긴장감과 생동감 전해주며, 원형 금속의 홈에 사각형 대리석을 정확히 끼워 균형을 맞췄고 벤치로서의 기능을 완벽히 수행하도록 했다. 기능 또는 메시지가 형태에 은유적으로 숨겨져 있어 시와 같이 사물을 천천히 오랫동안 음미할 수 있을 것이다.
